In modern pipeline engineering, polyethylene (PE) electrofusion fittings are widely used due to their excellent physical properties and convenient installation methods. However, pretreatment is essential to ensure a firm connection between electrofusion fittings and pipes and long-term stable operation of the system. The pretreatment process involves many details and precautions. Strictly following these points will greatly improve the overall reliability and safety of the pipeline system.
Preparation before pretreatment
Before pretreatment, a comprehensive inspection of the environment is required. Pretreatment should be carried out in a dry, ventilated and dust-free environment to avoid contamination of pipes and fittings by impurities such as moisture and dust. In addition, tool preparation is equally important. Ensuring that cutting tools, scrapers, sandpaper, measuring tools and cleaning solvents are complete and in good condition will lay the foundation for subsequent operations.
Safety protection measures should not be ignored. Operators should wear personal protective equipment such as protective glasses, gloves and masks to prevent splashes or harmful gases generated during cutting and grinding from affecting health.
Cutting and cleaning of pipes
During the cutting process of pipes, professional cutting tools should be used to ensure that the cutting surface is flat and free of burrs. When cutting, sufficient insertion depth should be reserved according to the project requirements to avoid deformation of the pipe due to excessive cutting. Cleaning should also not be sloppy. Use tools such as scrapers or sandpaper to thoroughly remove the oxide layer and dirt at the connection parts of pipes and fittings to ensure that there are no omissions and avoid damage to the surface.
For stains that are difficult to remove, a proper amount of cleaning solvent can be used for treatment. The selected solvent must ensure that it will not chemically react with the materials of pipes and fittings to avoid damaging the material properties.
Treatment of the inside of pipe fittings
When handling the inside of pipe fittings, the melt tank must be carefully checked to ensure that there are no impurities and damage inside. If necessary, solvents such as alcohol can be used for cleaning. At the same time, it is also important to check the electrode connection point to ensure that it is clean and free of rust so that it can form a good electrical contact with the electric fusion welder during welding.
Measurement and marking
During the measurement stage, use precise measuring tools to accurately measure the insertion depth of the pipe and clearly mark the surface of the pipe. These marks should be durable and use materials or methods that are not easy to fade to ensure that they are still clearly visible during installation and subsequent use.
Inspection after pretreatment
After completing the pretreatment, the pipes and fittings need to be fully inspected to ensure that they are free of scratches, damage and impurities. If conditions permit, quality verification should be carried out, such as measuring wall thickness and checking melt tank size to ensure that they meet engineering requirements.
Safety and environmental protection during pretreatment
During the entire pretreatment process, it is crucial to strictly follow the safety operating procedures to avoid possible safety accidents during operations such as cutting and grinding. At the same time, when using cleaning solvents, care should be taken to prevent solvent leakage and volatilization to reduce environmental pollution. Abandoned pipes and fittings should also be properly handled in accordance with environmental protection requirements to ensure that the impact on the environment is minimized.
Through the above detailed pretreatment steps, the connection quality between PE electric fusion pipe fittings and pipes can be effectively improved, the safety and stability of the pipeline system can be ensured, and a solid foundation can be provided for subsequent project implementation.
