PE ball valves play a vital role in urban gas transmission and medium cutoff, especially ball valves used in conjunction with buried polyethylene (PE) pipes, such as PE double-release fully welded ball valves and PE100 double-release gas ball valves. These ball valves are not only suitable for the transmission of various gases such as purified natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and manufactured coal gas, but can also provide effective supporting use for PE pipes in urban water supply systems. Its design of being buried directly underground makes the installation and maintenance process simple, making it an ideal actuator for buried PE gas pipes. However, the installation of PE ball valves requires professional steps and precautions to ensure its safety and efficiency.
Before installing a PE ball valve, it is essential to make adequate preparations. First, it is necessary to ensure that the pipelines before and after the ball valve are ready, and the pipelines should be coaxial and the sealing surfaces of the two flanges should be parallel. The pipeline should be able to bear the weight of the ball valve. If it is insufficient, it needs to be equipped with a corresponding support structure. At the same time, the pipeline needs to be thoroughly purged and cleaned to remove oil, welding slag and other impurities to prevent these pollutants from damaging the valve. During this process, it is necessary to verify the marking of the ball valve to ensure that it is intact, and confirm that its working condition is normal through full opening and full closing operations. Finally, be sure to remove the protective devices on the connecting flanges at both ends of the ball valve and check the valve hole to remove possible debris.
During the installation stage, the PE ball valve should be in a fully open state and ensure that the valve installation foundation is compacted. The connection between the pipeline and the ball valve must follow the technical specifications for polyethylene pipeline welding for gas, usually using hot melt butt or electric fusion connection. For polyethylene ball valves with vent pipes, special attention should be paid to the operation sequence. First, fully close the main valve, then open the outlet cover of the vent valve for venting, and then close the vent valve and cover the outlet cover after completion. During the entire installation process, ensure that the arrow on the sheath cover is consistent with the direction of the pipeline. The backfill material outside the sheath should be salt-free original soil or sand, and should not contain hard objects such as stones and glass. The upper part of the valve well needs to be poured with about 100mm thick concrete to enhance the stability of the structure, and then install the manhole cover.
During the installation of PE ball valves, the following points should be noted: First, the ball valve should be handled with care to avoid collision and knocking to prevent damage to the valve; second, the user should select a sleeve and wrench of appropriate length according to the buried depth of the ball valve; third, the pipeline must be strictly purged and cleaned before installation to ensure that no debris enters the valve channel; in addition, the connection between the pipeline and the ball valve should be carried out in accordance with standard specifications to ensure that the connection is firm and reliable; finally, when installing the sleeve, the height of the sleeve pipe should be adjusted to be consistent with the buried depth of the valve, and ensure that the arrow on the sleeve cover is consistent with the PE pipe and the saddle opening direction at the bottom of the sleeve. For polyethylene ball valves with a vent pipe, the main valve must be fully closed before operation, and then the venting operation must be performed. It must be noted that the outlet of the vent valve is only used for venting, and it must not be used for pressure testing or purging of the pipeline system.
